Using the Newest Techniques in Cosmetic Dentistry
Our office utilizes all of the latest, most effective cosmetic dentistry techniques, such as those seen on popular television makeover shows. Major advancements in the field of cosmetic dentistry have made it possible for us to transform stained or damaged teeth into gorgeous, brilliant smiles that our patients can be proud of. From porcelain veneers to simple in-office teeth whitening, a multitude of options can enhance the appearance of your smile. Visit our office and find out what treatment is best for you.
Imperfections in your smile, such as teeth that are stained, chipped, crooked, misshapen, or even separated by gaps, can easily be disguised with the application of porcelain veneers. These ultrathin customized laminates fit over the front surfaces of teeth to conceal flaws with beautiful porcelain. We use only the finest dental laboratories for the crafting of our porcelain veneers, which will provide you with a smile of uncompromised resilience, functionality, and beauty. With porcelain veneers, you can achieve a dramatic smile makeover, "instant orthodontics," or an improvement in the appearance of just one or a few teeth. Whatever your needs, porcelain veneers will provide a stunning smile enhancement that looks completely natural.
All-porcelain crowns are a beautiful, natural-looking way to repair broken, cracked or badly decayed teeth. Through the placement of an all-porcelain crown, the structure and appearance of a damaged tooth can be dramatically improved. Our dentist will first remove the impaired parts of the tooth, leaving a healthy portion of the tooth body to be capped with a temporary crown. When your custom crown is ready, our dentist will bond the crown for a secure and comfortable fit. With proper care, the high quality materials used to craft the crown will provide long-lasting brilliance and structural durability.
CEREC® is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This high-tech instrument has computerized design and manufacturing capabilities that allow us to economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment. Because CEREC® uses high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of your other teeth, it makes dark amalgam fillings a thing of the past. It also provides excellent wear resistance and forms an exceptionally strong bond to your natural tooth surface.
Bridges replace missing teeth by using the adjacent teeth as supports. They are permanently placed (which some patients consider a huge advantage over conventional dentures), and depending on the number of missing teeth, the bridge is anchored to crowns on either one tooth or the two teeth on each side of the space. A bridge can not only improve the appearance of your smile, but also affect your chewing ability and even remedy speech problems. We now have the option of making all-porcelain dental bridges without any metal whatsoever. This gives the finished tooth a nice, natural appearance â especially when we are replacing front teeth. At our office, we use Lava⢠porcelain overlays, which is one of the strongest materials of its kind in the field.
Bonding, a process that uses a composite resin filling thatâs tinted to match the patient's natural tooth color, is suitable for small gaps between the teeth, as well as chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth. In most cases, the entire treatment can be performed in one visit as the dentist applies a thin layer of the bonding material onto the toothâs surface and then molds it to cover any flaws. Once the composite resin is in place, we direct a high-intensity light onto the bonded tooth to cure and harden the material.
Cavities treated with metal fillings can cause teeth to appear dark and dull, which is why we offer tooth-colored fillings as an alternative to (and replacement for) the less attractive traditional type. Using a strong, tooth-colored composite material, our dentist will fill the cavity and allow the resin to harden. When the filling is complete, the treated tooth will be virtually indistinguishable from your other teeth, keeping your smile healthy-looking and free of exposed cavities.
When teeth are missing, the face loses its natural contour and fullness, resulting in a sunken and prematurely older appearance. The traditional fix for this problem is to be fitted with a partial or full set of dentures â prosthetic teeth that can be taken in and out of the mouth. Full dentures are designed to replace all of the teeth on the upper or lower arch (or both). They are designed to fit perfectly on the ridges inside the mouth, held in place by the natural suction created by the facial muscles. Partial dentures replace some of the teeth in your mouth and are held in place with attachments that grip onto existing teeth. An increasingly popular hybrid of traditional dentures involves dental implants used to secure the plates in place.
Dental implants are the most natural-looking and stable tooth replacement option. Composed of a surgically implanted titanium replacement root and a specially designed porcelain crown, the dental implant mimics the structure and appearance of a healthy tooth. Our dentists work in conjunction with a local periodontist, who performs the surgical implantation of the titanium anchor. Once the jawbone has healed, custom-crafted crown(s), bridge(s), or overdentures are fastened securely into place at our office.
Pearly white teeth have always been a standard of beauty. Unfortunately, teeth tend to lose their bright, white appearance over the years. Caffeinated drinks, nicotine, and even red wine can cause discoloration as staining material settles into tooth enamel's highly porous surface. To counter this, Szikman Dental offers in-office tooth whitening systems, including the 90-minute Zoom!® teeth whitening system. Many of the tooth whitening procedures performed at our office are quick and simple enough that you can have them done over your lunch break and be back at work in about and hour with a dazzling new smile. The tooth whitening procedure can be performed in our office under dentist supervision, or at your own convenience at home.
